I have loved you with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3

We Hardly Knew You

J eremiah Levi, such a big name for such a little fellow.
Y ou were so short with us, we hardly knew you.

Y our Mom knew you well, probably even knew you best;
H eart beating under hers, your gymnastics discomforting.

W atching you grow month by month, Mom and Dad
M arvel at miracle knit together by Divine designing.

F rom the inside looking out, they even saw you peeking
C hubby cheeks, dimpled nose, ten long fingers, ten tiny toes.

W hile Mommy hummed songs of silence, Abigail pondered,
D addy painted and pounded, Zak and Nate wondered,

W hen would come that day of great expectations?
W hen could we see you and welcome you home?

B ut suddenly there came an abrupt change in plans,
H ow could we know or ever imagine?

T he Lord lifted you up from among our midst
T o come join Him in His heavenly places.

S omehow it seems, you must now go on before us,
eeting your other brother named Elijah Jonathan

T o anticipate that great day, to plan in advance
hen you both would welcome us home instead.

J eremiah Levi and Elijah Jonathan, brave brother warriors
Y ou were so short with us, we hardly knew you.

S oon enough we shall have eternity to learn and to love you
N o more tears, no more pain, no more "good byes" there.

U ntil then, brave brother warriors, we say,
"O death, where is thy sting?  O grave, where is thy victory?"
[I Cor 15:55]
